America got a great expansion in 1803 when they bought a large territory from the French. The Louisiana Purchase was made and the French Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte, who made the deal with a little bit of a plan to take down England. He saw the the Unites States forming into a great power that would humble the English crusade. It was a big moment for the president, Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson had some constitutes question his purchase claiming it may be unconstitutional, however, he did not see the conflict. He did not see any provisions for gaining new territory and he felt this purchase would help to protect the country from possible trade blocks in the port of New Orleans. France and Spain both had to much power in the port and he felt it best to end that situation.

There are many elegant hotels throughout Louisiana to come and explore the early history of America. There are many museums spread across the state that can help fill in any gaps of knowledge you may have about the history of the area. If you are the true buff than it is always so exciting to see the actual places and feel the artifacts that notable people stayed and carried. In the world we live in today, it is hard to imagine the life that was lived with the lack of technology or even just plain modern conveniences.

Anyway, the Louisiana Purchase started as plan to protect interests in a port of of city but ended up expanding into many new states. Today the area of the original purchase makes up parts of New Mexico, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota. The whole states of Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Missouri and Arkansas were created out of the purchased land and all have been major contributors to the country we know of today.
