Shadows in Singapore

It’s good to know things, and it’s good to know you don’t know things.  For everything that is apparent and reasonable, there are equal parts of hidden misunderstandings and chaos at the center of all things.  The way to enter into the realm where opposites can enter and show themselves in their full light, is through shadow puppets.  In Singapore, there are multiple cultures that come to visit, and multiple cultures that came to visit before and decided to stay.  This is a rhythm and a pattern that will repeat itself over and over, and it does not necessarily reflect anything original.
It could very well be that the art and food in the restaurants of India are forever linked in extremely complicated ways, and to deny one is to deny the other.  Here, the only remedy is to make sure that one enjoys both of these, and simultaneously if possible.  This is truly good news for anyone that likes art and the good things in life.  But it’s important here, too, to remember that the shadow puppets of India demonstrate that for every action there is, indeed, an equal and opposite reaction.  This means that a balance is inherent in all things.
At times, it’s necessary to find the balance as an intellectual exercise, and to see how a weight in one area can offer relief in another.  At other times, the lesson will have to be learned through experience.  Some of the epics teach us about the wisdom inherent in understanding the limits of one’s own strength, instincts, and mind.  There are moments when it will be necessary to act against your own nature, in order to make nature balance again.  The secret of these leather figures is very complex, and also very simple, but the simple lessons can be the most difficult to learn.
