Posted by on August 10, 2009 | One comment

Ibiza is not the largest or most heavily populated of the Balearic Islands located off the coast of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea, though it is becoming the most well known in the international eye. This is due largely to the vibrant club scene the island enjoys, though there are also great and beautiful beaches as well as many historic landmarks and fabulous scenic elements. One of the specific populations in which Ibiza continues to gain popularity is with that of celebrities. They are continually seen in growing numbers on this relatively small island paradise. Perhaps soon, Ibiza car rentals will have a new customer who is strictly interested in celebrity chasing. The latest spotting was of the American film actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

Leonardo first rose to fame in the film What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, which starred one of the most famous and respected actors of our time Johnny Depp. Although, he had already achieved great critical acclaim in the film This Boy’s Life. His performance in Gilbert Grape earned him both Golden Globe and Oscar nominations. DiCaprio was born in 1974 and demonstrated his great talent at a young age. Showing such a great commitment and awareness of human emotions and nature at such a young age is extremely rare.

It was the film Titanic, however that skyrocketed DiCaprio into major superstar status. In this film, which was written and directed by James Cameron, DiCaprio played Jack Dawson, a young man who falls in love on board ship before the tragedy strikes. English actress Kate Winslet played opposite DiCaprio and her character’s name was Rose DeWitt Bukater. These two characters are central to the film though they and their love story are one of the fictional elements in the movie. However, many of the other characters are based on the actual historic figures that were present on board the ship. The love story was created build a stronger empathetic identity aspect with the audience and contribute to a greater appreciation of the tragedy of the event.

Ibiza is a vibrant island located in the Mediterranean Sea off the Coast of Spain. It is part of a group of Balearic islands that compose the four major ones. While it is not the largest or the most populated of the Balearic Islands, it is definitively not short on charm, character and attractions. There are many popular and beautiful beaches that attract residents and tourists alike. There are also activity specific elements on particular beaches, and some are more recognized for surfing, snorkeling and water sports, while others are extremely popular for clubs, beach parties and volleyball. Of course other beaches are known for their beautiful views, luxury resorts and romantic sunsets. Then, of course there are those quiet sunbathing areas, were reflection, meditation and suntans prevail.

One of the features of Ibiza that pleases all interests and tastes is its restaurant scene. There are many restaurants and cuisine from around the world can be found there. The food establishments range from a small beach café to a fine dining experience in one of the most prestigious resort restaurants. Some of the restaurants are also bars and this creates a great dynamic for diners who wish to transition strait to partying after they eat. Sometimes one of the Ibiza opening parties will be hosted at its many restaurants, which turns the whole meal into an exciting experience. Some of the traditional food on the island includes the Ibicencan fayre with dishes consisting of lamb, rabbit, fish and chicken. Tapas, appetizers, are extremely popular with most foods. Standard Mediterranean food is also a common find on this island. Mediterranean cuisine is popular as much for its great taste as it is for its healthy lifestyle aspects. While not all of it is great for you, of course, much of the food is vegetarian and heart healthy. And some of the contemporary flavors of modern Basque food are popular with locals as well as tourists.

Ibiza Third Largest of The Balearic Islands

Posted by on July 23, 2009 | No comments

There are four prominent Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Spain. Of these, Majorca is the largest and most heavily populated. It also receives the greatest amount of tourists, with an almost unsurpassable number. It is well known for its cultural aspects and the old town area of Palma, its capital city. Minorca is the second largest of these islands, and takes its name from its larger and greater known neighbor. As with all the island, Minorca has fabulous beaches and many historical landmarks that attract visitors. Formentera is the smallest of these four islands, though it is not short on beauty or outside interest. It has some of the most beautiful beaches, full of clean sand and clear waters. Wind surfing is a probably the most popular water sport associated with this island.

Finally, there is Ibiza, Formentera’s closet neighbor. It is the third largest of the Balearic Islands, though it is probably the most notoriously well known. This is largely due to its thriving club scene, which any island anywhere would be hard pressed to measure up to. Clubs, lounges, pubs and bars are almost everywhere on this island. They’re on the beaches, in the mainland, and of course in all of the cities, in particular the major ones. Even the smallest Ibiza town hotel is likely to have a private lounge for its guests to enjoy happy hour or a nightcap. The two most prominent cities on Ibiza are Ibiza Town and San Antonio. They are also the home to most of the clubs, and many of them are famous in their own right. However, there is also much more on this island than its nightclubs. There are great museums, ancient ruins and plenty of beautiful scenery. There are even golf courses, which are surrounded by majestic greenery and shrubs.

Children and Greenheart

Posted by on April 5, 2009 | One comment

The reality is that the climate is changing all over the planet. This requires people who initially may have over-consumed, to shift their perspectives and their consciousness, to change habits that have become very ingrained in popular culture. The goal of the Greenheart organization on Ibiza is to help people alter their understanding, of the needs of our planet and our place in caring and preserving it. They focus on the cyclic nature of everything that creates life on the planet, that gives life to the planet and to the planet itself. The four elements of nature, fire, air, water and earth are elements that must be kept in balance. Marine life, plants, insects, fungus and bacteria all must remain on a self-regulating cycle. And once humans realize the role they play in the destruction of the balance and the role that they are capable of playing in the reconstruction of that balance, it provides hope and help for the future generations.

The base camp for Greenheart on Ibiza is called La Casita Verde. Here there is a garden, fine vegetarian Ibiza restaurants, and their educational center and school. For three hundred children each year, classes and seminars are provided free of charge. The classes stress the importance of caring for the environment and the Mediterranean sea that surrounds that environment. What they are hoping is that the children will take what they have learned and incorporate into their everyday lives. For those children will grow up, and they hold the future of Ibiza in their hands. Children are taught about water conservation, alternative energy forms and the effects of pollution on the ecosystems they are surrounded by. This knowledge is meant to empower them to take into their own hands these things that they can change. The are given the mission of figuring out how to carry out cleaner ways of living in their own homes. Simple things as turning off lights when leaving a room, or buying fruits and vegetables from local farmers. They are then given the assignment to paint pictures of their commitments, which are sent to the Kids Call Campaign in Japan, presented by the World Future Council. Their last mission and final assignments are to write letters to their local government and politicians, to state their concerns. This is one way in which this small island is making a difference, and the way in which the children are well informed to enter the future they are about to create.
