There is some learning to do when one decides to become a vegetarian to make sure that the nutrients is actually getting to the body properly. There are many reasons that people are vegetarian eaters. Some just don’t want to see animals killed and others have religious obligations.

Hinduism is one of the religions that hold vegetarianism as and ideal. The reasons for this includes the nonviolence to animals, the offering of only pure food to a deity which will then bring back the blessing within and then there is the belief that anything non vegetarian is bad for the mind and the spirit. They believe it hinders spiritual growth and development. Hindu’s usually still eat eggs and dairy products so they are considered lacto-vegetarians. There eating habits do vary depending on the region they come from.

Judaism has interesting rituals around meat. They do favor vegetarianism because of the concern for animals but also they think that the act of killing the animal develops negative character traits in people. They were more concerned with the effects on the person character. It is not a requirement or is it prohibited to eat meat when one is practicing Judaism but the topic is talked about and made on personal decision. It seems that with most religions there is a choice of whether or not to be vegetarian. There is, however, some that forbid eating certain kinds of meat like beef or pork. Judaism asks that one prepares the meats a special way which would be kosher. So why are you a vegetarian?
