Rocky Mountain National Park
Steve had always considered vacation destinations major cities that spanned the globe. Growing up his parents always loved to travel and instilled this passion in their children. And while he did tour country sides, such as when he spent a full three weeks in Tuscany Italy, he generally oriented his destination to a major city. Even while visiting Tuscany he was based in Florence and spent the majority of his time there. It was his wife’s insistence that they spend a week in a country villa, though he had a fabulous time and never objected.
However, last spring when his wife Rhonda suggested that they spend their summer vacation in Colorado his response was that he goes to Denver all the time for business and while it’s a great city he doesn’t feel like vacationing there. Rhonda laughed a little knowing her husband’s tendencies and then explained that she wanted to explore some of the great mountains and country area. It took Steve a while to register exactly what she meant and was initially less than enthusiastic about the idea. However, after some consideration, he finally agreed to go. Not because he thought it was a great idea, but because he recognized that he almost always got to choose their destination.
Rhoda was overjoyed and immediately started suggesting specific destinations. She learned that she would have final say and decided on an area in the Rocky Mountain National Park. It couldn’t have been a better choice. Steve loved the views and open air. He thought it was one of the most beautiful places he had ever been and couldn’t have felt more at peace yet inspired that summer. Rhoda knew she had made a great decision when she stepped out of their cottage style accommodations and found Steve out front practicing his Tai Chi moves. She hadn’t seen him do that in years and left him to his own while she grilled breakfast out in the open.
