Wile surfing the net I cam across this web site by a guy named Chris Guillebeau, his web site is about the art of non-conformity his goal is to visit every country in the world by his 35th birthday, he has two years to go. His site is about breaking the mold and living freely, unconventionally. To achieve his goal he can’t hold a ‘real’ job. On his site he shares how he makes a living through his unconventional style, he gives travel advice from packing and preparation to the cheapest tickets you’ll find anywhere and how to get them. Much of the information is free, in fact enough of it is free that you can begin your unconventional life just by reading the free material. And you don’t have to travel like a worrier to lead an unconventional life. If you need more assistance he offers a number of down loadable information packets giving detailed information regarding topics like Break Out of 9 to 5, Fly More Spend (much) Less, Art and Money. This guy travels by the seat of his pants sometimes sleeping on the floor of an airport terminal, staying in modest, to say the least, guest houses to 5 star dubai hotel. He has been in and out of countries not very friendly to western visitors. Where ever he goes he meets the locals and reports on his experiences there and getting there. The weekly updates are always entertaining. From the debacles in Saudi Arabia to grueling overland treks in remote back countries across frontier borders. Live vicariously through reading these adventures. On his web site he encourages, those of a like mind, to think differently about how to make money, question how much money do you need and what do you want to do with your time. Its all about finding the enjoyment in living and not living for a job and trying to find time to enjoy. He explores the concept of creating business that are not location based, therefore they can be operated from anywhere in the world on the road, from the air or the sea. This is worth exploring further.

I was visiting with a friend in Dubai and he informed me about just how high Dubai plans to go. Apparently, the new race in the UAE is building the highest towers. I thought that the Burj was the end of the Arabian vision, but I was mistaken. While I was staying at one of the Luxury Hotels Dubai UAE offers thousands of tourists each day, there was a convention being held for architects from around the world. The convention, as if there aren’t enough strange conventions here already, was about who will build the next highest tower.

A few years ago, Dubai had a project that would spend a few billion to build the highest tower in the world. Some 800 meters high. Dubai wanted any visitor and local to be able to see this landmark from anywhere in and around Dubai. But, Kuwait has thrown their two-cents into the race and are planing to beat Dubai by building its own highest tower. Kuwait as projected their tower to be approximately 1000 meters high. So, Dubai not wanting to be out-done has challenged their own plans to beat Kuwait’s tower, they plan to throw in a few more billion.

New proposals are in the pipe-line and one of them is to for even another highest tower in Dubai. I’ve heard rumors that this one will be over 1050 meters! Bahrain tossed in their hat and has proposed to build something in the 1022 meters high range. So, the race is on. The Saudi’s and their multi-billionaire Prince, I’ve heard, is going to play and build his own version of the highest building, but that his will be really impressive, he plans to go as high as 1600 meters! Yes, impressively crazy! What a crazy silly world the UAE and it’s surrounding countries have become.

Dubai UAE is a thriving metropolis and its citizens are representative from societies and cultures from around the world. This is one of the features that the legal structure and social service oriented institutions supports. Various monuments and activity centers testify to this and celebrate the diverse nature of Dubai and its citizens as well as the many tourists that visit the region every year. The four star Dubai hotels also reflect the progressive and diverse nature of the city and population.

Irish pubs are not the first thing one thinks of one imagining pictures and the various elements of Dubai. However, the Irish population and as well as various venues reflect the population and its popularity in the region. The Irish Village in the Aviation Club is one of the more prominent Irish institutions in the city and offers everything from festivals, events, Irish food and of course drink from this little green country. The pub is a wooden building that reflects the comfort and quiet associated with some of the small Irish villages. It is certainly the best way to experience Ireland while visiting Dubai. It is sponsored by the Irish Society of Dubai, which also promotes the culture and various programs associated with Irish society.

The Irish Village also celebrates traditions from other parts of the world. Its annual hop fest is one of the ways it does this. The 2009 celebration is marks the fifth year in a row that this event has taken place. It takes place in August of every year, and this year it is August 13, 14, and 15. It is an incredible taste adventure and features over 120 beers from around the world. Of course the traditional Guinness Stout will remain one of the most popular offerings at the festival, though many people come to try new and exotic beers that they don’t normally have access to. There will also be live entertainment offered in the outdoor, air-conditioned marquee.

Due to its proximity to the Arabian Sea, water sports and marine activities are common and popular in Dubai. Scuba diving is one of the most popular of these and there are many programs that offer training and experience for novices and people who want to give it a try. When people are on vacation, they are often interested in experiencing new things, and trying various adventures they would not due in their normal lives. Scuba diving is one of those activities they like to explore while staying in one of the five star hotels Dubai.

Al Boom Diving is recognized as the leading diving school in the UAE. It offers a variety of services including diving tours and lessons for all skill levels. There is childcare available and the training is provided by instructors who are certified in Emergency First Response. There are deep sea diving instructions as well as the more frequent more shallow depth lessons for beginners and people with vary little experience. Shallower depths are also popular with experienced divers who simply wish to explore the costal areas with their diverse marine life and beautiful coral reefs.

There is a gear shop at the school that sales the top quality brand names in various gear needs. They offer gear from Aqualung (http://www.aqualung.com/), Amphibious Outfitters, Sea and Sea and more. The main shop is in town, across from the Iranian Embassy. They have a great selection of items such as snorkels, weights, fins, masks, wetsuits and various other necessary items, as well as some that are just for the fun of it. One of the more exciting dive tours offered by the school is the shark dive at the Dubai Aquarium (http://www.thedubaiaquarium.com/). It is not for the light if heart, though it definitely provides and exciting dive. The dive time is twenty to thirty minutes and all gear is provided in the cost of the dive.

When looking for five-star hotels, Dubai offers a multitude of choices. Set in one of the world’s hotspots, Dubai is a sumptuous combination of old-world hospitality and new-world amenities. With an exciting music scene, a blossoming art world, and the presence of extremely high tech shopping malls in the same place as some old market districts, Dubai is a city of curiosities. The number of recent expats setting down roots here is a testimony to the attraction of the place. There is the solitude of the desert, but there is also the extreme social life on the beach. Whether the purpose of the trip is business or pleasure, there is something for everyone.

Sugar plays a very important part in Dubai culture, and in the UAE generally. A key ingredient in the delicious baked sweets recipes, generous amounts stirred into mind-bogglingly good coffee, and used quite liberally in other culinary concoctions, sugar is a magic elixir. Sugar, of course, has a long and peculiar history, and its story is by no means unfinished. In Dubai, sugar refineries are shifting from India to Brazil for the favorite sugar exporter. The distance between Dubai and Brazil is much, much further than between Dubai and India, but the cost is so much less for Brazil’s sugar, that buying patterns are changing. In Brazil, the choice is often between exporting unrefined sugar or ethanol, but changes in petrol consumption and production are starting to shift, which will be fascinating to watch in the global market in the coming years.

Sugar’s importance here is further exemplified by the Dubai Sugar Conference. Held in this city for five years running, the conference focuses on world trends in sugar production, exportation, and consumption in the world. Last years conference had 411 delegates representing 29 countries, from Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Asia & Asia Pacific, and the Middle East. It is attended by shippers, consultants, traders, producers, refiners, and bankers. Lately focusing on issues of contemporary sugar and ethanol consumption, the conference is a chance to network on some of the most important issues facing the sugar world today.

From scuba diving in its world-famous coral reefs to dune bashing in the desert outside the city, Dubai has a wealth of activities and attractions that make it one of the most exciting and hospitable cities in the Middle East. With man-made islands, world class restaurants, and more entertainment and sports venues opening all the time, the city has made tourism into an art. Whether in town for business or pleasure or both, visitors will find more to do and see than they ever imagined.

With all the development over the last decade, it’s very easy to find a five star hotel Dubai, especially if you like beach resorts. The city also boasts golf resorts, theme hotels, and even apartments and beach cottages for rent. While the city leans towards the wealthier tourist, there are budget hostels and options for those with smaller budgets.

The historic sights of Dubai illustrate the city’s rich and colorful history. From the Al Fahidi Fort to the Jumeirah Mosque, from the Bastakiya District to the Dubai Museum, there are plenty of opportunities to explore Dubai’s history first-hand. There are still souks throughout the city, offering the experience of a traditional Dubai market.

Recreational activities in Dubai include deep sea fishing, sailing, dune bashing, and scuba diving. There is a water park and a zoo for family fun. Professional sports are on the rise in Dubai where international competitions are held in rugby, cricket, horse racing, and tennis, to name just a few. The city is also home to arts and cultural festivals celebrating jazz, film, literature, and even poetry.

The food in Dubai is first-class. Many of the top chefs from around the world are opening restaurants in the city and just about any cuisine is now available. Where once the city was known for its Arabic and Middle Eastern cuisine, it’s now common to see Asian, European, African, and American foods.

This ancient-yet-modern city is enjoying its glowing (and growing) reputation and looks forward to future development and expansion.
